Sick Children=No Knitting

So, last week it was Tyler's turn to be sick- yucky cold, icky cough that kept him home, fever that made us go to the doctor, etc.. This week it is Kelly's turn.
The poor kid was sent home from Pre-K on Tues with 102 degree fever. She's had a fever on and off for the last 3 days. We are going to the doctor at 2:30 today so that means the store will be closing at about 2pm- sorry! Got to figure out what's wrong with her! Next week is her school vacation so if you want to come see the little princess, she'll be here (hopefully feeling better) all week with me. She's very good at unpacking yarn, not so good at letting mommy knit though- especially when she's sick and clingy.

I'm knitting a corn on the cob now for the food window display- got about 4 inches of it done last night and it looked a little phallic- you decide:

Here's the piece of Blueberry pie I finished over the weekend:
The pattern is from pieknits.com I didn't like it as much as the cherry pie- I think I made the stuffing section a little too big or the crust a little too small. Oh well.

Let the eat knitted pie!

So, I had been knitting the Bistro Shirt but it is a lot of stockinette stitch so I decided I needed another project- knitted food for a summer themed window display for the store.

I finished this great Cherry Pie:
I knit it with leftover red wool from some christmas stocking- probably Candide yarn not sure though. The crust is Cotton Fleece.
The pattern is from pieknits.com. I'm working on their piece of blueberry pie next.

I've got the Monday night knitting circle group working on carrots, tomatoes and cake but if anyone else wants to contribute knitted fruit/snacks, etc... please feel free.

Here's a photo of Mary Jo's cupcake and celery:

Support Relay for Life- American Cancer Society

You all are probably familiar with the Relay for Life- if not, Relay celebrates lifeRelay For Life® is an overnight American Cancer Society event that celebrates survivorship and raises money to fight cancer. Teams of people camp out at local high schools or parks and take turns walking around a track that anight is illuminated with thousands of glowing bags, each bearing the name of a cancer survivor or someone lost to the disease. Relay offers special ceremonies for survivors and caregivers, and fun round-the-clock activities to keep participants busy. In 2007, over 6,000 relays will occur across the United States. It is a great way to raise money for the American Cancer Society. My husband, Terry, will be participating along with other hospital employees. Could we get stinkier?

So, the store closed early yesterday- Wednesday at 3pm. SOrry for the lack of warning but after picking Kelly up from school at 2:40, I stopped at the gas station to fill the car up and managed to pour gas all over my pants. I smelled so bad, I was gagging- so we all drove home with the windows down (while it was 40 degrees outside) and that was the end of the work day.

Now, here's what happened earlier in the day:

I made the mistake of telling Tyler to pick up the "balls" of yarn. He heard the word balls and that was it. Balls in his 2 year old head are for throwing so he threw and threw and threw the yarn till Mommy lost it. Cute but only amusing till the balls came partially unraveled. Why does he choose to do this only with the expensive yarn?

Oh, I finished the Lornas Laces earflap hat- just in time for this week's cold spell and the lovely 3-5 inches of snow that we got overnight.

She loves it! Wants a scarf, sweater and socks out of this yarn too. We'll see... The pattern was a combination of a free Lion Brand Earflap Hat pattern - for the hat part and earflaps from a Plymouth Baby Alpaca grande freebie hat pattern. I tried the earflaps of the Lion Brand pattern but after doing them 8 times and ripping them out 8 times, decided they didn't work.
